Plant a tree or donate to an organization that will plant one for you! Established trees require less water than lawns or other plantings. Their canopies reduce storm water run-off and their roots filter water before it enters the aquifer. Trees reduce erosion and provide habitat for wildlife and birds. They slow global warming by absorbing and sequestering carbon while generating oxygen. They provide shade, reducing residential energy bills in summer and offering cooler, quieter public spaces for communities. Trees have been shown to improve mental and physical health and increase property values.
