The 8th continent may be exactly what our oceans need. Designed by innovator Lenka Petráková, the 8th continent is an award-winning, self-sustaining floating station. It was designed to clean up The Great Pacific Patch, the largest accumulation of plastic trash on earth, by collecting plastic waste and converting it to recyclable material. Powered by solar panels and tidal energy, the 8th continent design has a barrier, a collector, a research center, greenhouses, and living quarters. As our plastic problem increases, we are hopeful this beautiful and functional 8th continent will help protect our marine life, oceans, and planet.
