Plastic bags take hundreds of years to biodegrade, contribute to our ocean’s plastic problem and are a danger to marine wildlife. Eight US states, (and several countries), have now banned single-use plastic bags. California was the first; Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New York, Oregon and Vermont soon followed. Other states are experimenting with placing fees on bags to encourage reuse or improving recycling options.
