In January 2023, a popular weed-killer by the name of Roundup will no longer be sold. The main ingredient, glyphosate, has been found to cause cancer. Around 125,000 claims that Roundup causes cancer have been made against the parent company, however, only 30,000 of those claims have been resolved. The Department of Agriculture stated that in 2014 alone, 240 million pounds of glyphosate were sprayed in the US, which has contaminated the air, water, soil, and the food we eat every day. By eliminating this toxic chemical, we are one step closer to a healthier environment and healthier people, and that is something worth celebrating.
