An NHTSA survey found that over 12% of all passenger vehicles in the US (2004-2011 models) have at least one tire that is severely underinflated – 25% or more below the recommended pressure. Underinflated tires decrease fuel efficiency, and can lead to catastrophic failure of the tire. At a minimum, underinflation reduces the life of a tire and currently 25% of tires end up in landfill instead of being recycled. Improve your gas mileage by up to 3% and prolong the life of your tires, keeping them out of landfill, just by keeping them inflated to the right pressure.
